David's Network

For background on how David got involved in LifeSPAN, read Linda & Dave's Story.

David's First Network Meeting

On a wonderfully early Fall day 10 humans and one canine (Prianka, The Dog) met to launch David’s network at David and Linda’s home in the Wallingford area of Seattle. Great people shared Linda’s hearty and tasty cooking. David and Linda welcomed to this event: John, the facilitator, Michele, the facilitator coordinator, Kathy, Board sponsor for David’s network, Jean and her brother Jay, fans of David, Jim and Karen, David’s neighbors, and Marilyn, one of Jean’s neighbors.

Once we had introduced ourselves we let David share with us his various passions. He only has a baker’s dozen we talked about! He takes each interest seriously, and we discussed them all in turn. Here’s the list:

1. Fixing things
2. Collecting and using tools
3. Finding interesting items at estate sales
4. Boating
5. Going out for coffee
6. Becoming a member of the University Presbyterian Church
7. Watching and talking About Movies
8. Building model train set-ups
9. Playing and listening to Organs
10. Cheering for the Boston Red Sox
11. Walking Prianka, The Dog—owning pets
12. Completing projects
13. Playing Golf

Joining the University Presbyterian Church

David became an official member of the University Presbyterian Church (UPC) on the second Sunday in December (12/10/2006) at its 8:30 AM service. David had been attending UPC for two years, first to enjoy the wonderful performances of its resident organist, and later because he liked the services. With the launching of his network, he decided it was time to commit.

After being “presented to the congregation” during the Morning Service, David's network and friends were invited to join Linda and David at home for a celebratory brunch. It was a great occasion!

ALL ABOARD THE NW LARGEST MODEL TRAIN SHOW!

You don’t have to know the difference between what “G,” “HO” or “N” mean to model train enthusiasts to enjoy the Model Train Show. The Model Train Show runs over the MLK holiday weekend in January. David's network plans to join him at the Model Train Show January 14-15, 2007.
