Q: Where can I get a copy of the invoice form?
A: The easiest way to submit invoices is using the
Q: How do I know what I can bill in my invoice?
A: The simple answer is that you can bill anything that
was on your 6-month Workplan. Of course sometimes you estimate more
time than you need or less time than you actually used. So, bill for
the time that you actually spent, then we'll see how it averages out
over the six months and adjust future plans accordingly.
Q: When is it appropriate to bill my time to LifeSPAN
(rather than the network)?
A: For certain meetings or trainings, it is appropriate to
bill LifeSPAN. For example, you can bill an hour for the time you
spend at a LifeSPAN Facilitator Gathering (usually held every other
month). If you're not sure, just check with Michele.
Q: What about mileage?
A: Usually LifeSPAN does not pay for mileage. (That's why
we try to find facilitators who live in close proximity to the focus
person.) However, sometimes it may happen that you have to drive a
longer distance. If you feel that mileage should be covered in a
special case, just check with the office so we can confirm it with
the family.
Q: When do I need to submit invoices?
A: It is a good idea to submit invoices monthly. If you
use the
Online Invoice Form, go ahead and submit an invoice, even if you
had zero hours. (That will make it much easier to track hours for
your 6-month workplans.) We make an effort to pay invoices within a
week of receipt of the office, but that depends on getting checks
signed. We appreciate your patience!
Q: What goes into a six-month workplan?
A: There's a sample continuing workplan in the
Facilitator Manual
Chapter 5 (Word) and you can download an editable
Six-Month Workplan
Template (Word).
Here are the key components:
- Estimated Hours (by month) for the next six months (with a
total)
- Goals for the next six months
The estimated hours for the next six months gives us a common
agreement between LifeSPAN and the family of what to expect in the
coming months. The goals don't have to be lofty ("Climb Mt. Rainier by end of
summer, 2008"). They may be as simple as
- Hold two network meetings in the next six months.
or
- Arrange for a network member to visit the focus person each
month
If there's a major change in the focus person's life, that might
be highlighted in the goals, for example:
- Provide network support to the focus person as he makes a job
change this spring.
or
- Assist focus person to move into new apartment this summer.
